OUR HISTORY

Falls Area Food Pantry, formally called Falls Area Community Services, is a full-service food pantry completely run by community volunteers.  The Pantry’s mission is to gather and distribute nutritious food to those with acute or chronic need who live in the greater Menomonee Falls area.  It also strives to raise awareness of hunger in our community and provides volunteer opportunities for community members to serve one another.

The Pantry was established in 1983 by twelve area churches to help meet the needs of residents laid-off from the Briggs and Stratton plant and others who needed food assistance.  Today the Pantry continues to be supported by these partnering churches as well as many other local churches, businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals.  The Pantry is managed by a volunteer staff and a volunteer board of directors.

Falls Area Food Pantry was first located at Lincoln School, now a soccer field next to North Middle School.  It was later located in two buildings in the Menomonee Falls School District and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  In August 2010, the Pantry moved to our present location at the former Village Water Department headquarters at N85 W15382 Menomonee River Pkwy.

The Village of Menomonee Falls graciously allows the Food Pantry to use the building for free although the Pantry pays for utilities and improvements. This new location provides us three times the space we previously had and gives us the opportunity to serve more members of our community.
